Question:

How should we split the cost for our Golf Tournament?

This is our 2nd Golf Tournament, our first one a total of 44 golfers attended and $3000.00 went towards our scholarship fund, after all the fees was paid. Well this year another organization wants to partner with us, bringing in a minimum of 20 golfers, water & sports drinks also an "Raffle Drawing w/Prizes" they are asking for 30% of the Profit. I and the rest of the committee feels this is too much to ask for. Since my organization is doing everything for the tournament; contract, advertising etc., I was thinking along the lines of a rolling scale of the players they would bring in, starting at 10% up to 30% and since both of us plan to bring in prizes for the drawing we would split the cost of the drawing down or should we just take it off of the top.

I need some direction on this one.

Thanks,

  1. That seems like a lot of work to sort out where the funds came from and really and they are only asking for 30%. I would say go back and offer 15 or 20 % and have a bottom line of 25%

This would mean that with the 3000 you brought in you would only lose 750 with a tournament of 44 golfers. So if you have 60 golfers this time then you would roughly bring in 4500 and would still walk away with 3375$.
