  1. Shrimp are sorted by the number of shrimp to a pound If it takes 100 shrimp to make a pound then there small if its ten to a pound then they are large. If if less than 10 to a pound then theyre preety darn big.

The smallest shrimp on the gulf coast are called sea bobs abount 80 to 100 for a pound the largest gulf shrimp are white shrimp usually 10 or less to a pound. White brown pink shrimp have subtle differences in flavor.

  2. Larval brine shrimp can be just 1/2 a millimeter long.

And apparently there is some kind of giant shrimp that's about 6 inches long.

With a little help from Photoshop, they can get even bigger: http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/21334...

  3. Extra Colossal  is the largest shrimp , Extra Small  is the smallest

Extra Colossal has 5 or less a pound, and Extra Small has about 65 per pound.

    Shrimp sizes

    Shrimp per pound:

    # 10 shrimp or less = Colossal

    # 11 to 15 = Jumbo

    # 16 to 20 = Extra-large

    # 21 to 30 = Large

    # 31 to 35 = Medium

    # 36 to 45 = Small

    # about 100 = Miniature

hope this helps.               good luck and enjoy.
