How smart is your macaw?

Question

Mine never leaves his perch unless he wants something to eat other then what is in his bowl or if he wants a shower because that is his decision and he will go into the bathroom usually every third week to get a bath.

My Macaw is very smart, a little TOO smart..infact. He knows just how to "con" me into giving him everything he wants. :)

One time he kept screaming and I told him to shut up. Minutes later he waddled over to me and said "are we being quiet"? The fact that he could put that into context left me astonished.

My Macaw is the best "thing that's ever happened" to me. He is my baby, & best friend. I've never gotten bitten by him, either. He certainly lives up to his name, Sonnenbär. ("Zo-nen-bear"...which means "Sun-bear" in German).

I have a blue and gold macaw also.  He is very smart.  He knows to say c'mere when I leave the room.  He whines when I say goodnite to him beacause he knows that I'm going to bed.  

He says out and up when he wants me to let him out.  He knows exactly how to con me into getting what he wants.  He curls his feet together to be cute knowing that I will fall for it everytime.  He even calls me "Ma".  He can be pretty pitiful, when he wants "Ma's" attention.  

He was even my boyfriend's bird.  He bought him.  That was until I moved in and became the one that fed and talked to him all day, being that I'm the one that's home all day.

I would have to say that my "Buddy" is the best thing that has happened to me also.  He actually is my best Buddy.  That's why he has that name.

Smart enough to open the cage by herself if I don't lock it.I can't leave her out because of the cats-she will attack them.One, a few years ago decided to stalk her and lost a couple of inches of tail for his trouble.
