Question:

How sneaky can you be with proof of car insurance?

I received a speeding ticket on 5/4/08 without insurance. I lied and told the officer I had insurance but didn't have proof with me. Later that day, I got car insurance.

Now I have to send the courthouse proof that I had insurance the day of the ticket. I have a new insurance card which says that my insurance starts the day of the violation, 5/4/08. Will this look suspicious, or will this be accepted by the courthouse? Thanks!

(p.s. from now on, I'll always drive with insurance!)

  1. more than likely they will accept it.  if you get a judge that wants to be an ***, then he may ask for your agent to send proof of the time the policy began that day.  policies DO have a time on them when coverage went into force.  i had a guy who had an accident 1 hr BEFORE his policy began and we had to show proof of the time the policy went into force.  good luck!

  2. it is 50/50

    up to the judge.

  3. I guess it depends on the Judge. Ive seen it work.
