If you want loud go with the classic a 12 inch glasspack will be plenty loud but as before you need to check the noise laws in your state. i personally have straight 3" pipe with dual 5" echo tips, that may be too loud for your taste though i can be heard up to 5 miles away. It really depends on your vehicle, engine, and transmission i'd be happy to help if i knew the details i'm great with exhaust.

i owned a 2005 dodge ram 1500 quad cab. cut off the exhaust, left it that way, big mistake! when i went to slam th pedal to the floor, it did not gain any speed at all. i then took it to the muffler shop, He put a thing on there called a one chamber. then he put a 20 inch exhaust tip on it. I was impressed, it gave it a deep rumble,

Do it right! Save some money and buy an aftermarket exhaust that fits your truck....

definantly go with at least a ten inch glass pack, followed up with two flowmaster cherry bomb mufflers. your truck will be loud and sound like a perfectly timed machine!

JC Whiteny for years has had an exhaust re route valve where you can reac to the floor and turn a lever to bypass the rest of the exhaust.  Some people do that when they get on the highway to get maybe 1 or 2 more MPG.

i cut off everything from the cat back and through on a cherry bomb and it sounds great

although cutting off your cat is illegal it gave me about 5 extra hp and better gas mileage

Its not hard too cut off your exhaust, just get a sawzall and chop it off. Make sure you do it after the catalytic converter though.

Well I can't speak for all states but, if you're talking about removing the exhaust for street driving. It will get you a ticket as it's illegal to do, unless it's for track only. If you want noise, all you need is a tricked out exhaust modification.
