How soon after giving birth can one become pregnant/concieve again?

Please, does someone know the textbook answer? As far as I know it is 3 or 4 weeks (although unlikely).

It doesn't matter how much time a woman needs to recover.  She can get pregnant soon right after.  My mom did right after she had me, and my sister is my Irish Twin.  :)

Unless you're breast feeding you can get pregnant immediately that's why there used to be children who were born 9 months apart.  People who are like the Duggers do it all the time.

I have 2 nephews that are only 10 months apart, so, she got pregnant 4 weeks after the first one was born. My husband and his brother is also a little over 10 months apart. So 3-4 weeks is possible.

Well, depends on what type of birth, vaginal or c-section. Either way you have the normal waiting time all while breast feeding. But as soon as you start having s*x again - it will happen. Hormones are supposed to protect you will breast feeding, but that is not always the case.

About a month or two. the woman needs time 2 recover. its anywere from 1-2 months

well...a woman is suposed to wait to have s*x for about 6 weeks and by then she can get pregnant too.

Actually, the answer is

"immediately".

Not for everyone, maybe, but it is still possible.

If you are not in too much pain to endure ( or even enjoy) s*x immediately after giving birth, use condoms.

As soon as you have the baby and are aloud to have s*x again is when you can become pregnant again.

It depends.  A woman cannot get pregnant if she is breastfeeding, if she is not breastfeeding she can get pregnant when she starts having periods again.

I do not know the "textbook" answer, but I work for OB/GYN and we have had several patients come back for postpartum check up (6 weeks) and be pregnant

6 weeks after I had my first child i became pregnant with my second but didn't find out til I was almost 4mths. It is usually after the bleeding stops.
