Just wondering the soonest time after giving birth when I can begin taking birth control pills again. Do you have to wait 6 weeks or however long you bleed for until you can begin taking them, or can you begin taking them shortly after going home from the hospital?

  1. T- 9 months!

  2. 6 weeks after...especially if you are breast feeding.  You need to wait the 6 weeks so that your milk flow is established.  Even then if you continue breastfeeding, you need to use a progesterone only pill.

  3. depends on how long you want to wait to have another kid...want to get pregnant soon?  then don't take it....   Don't want to get pregnant, then don't do it or get on birth control. But usually after like 6 weeks of birth.  That is when my doctor put me back on it.

  4. I think you have to wait until you get your period again. I think they say like six weeks. Unless you get an iud put in at the hospital or get your tubes tied at the hospital.

  5. I believe you can do that at 6 weeks that's when i had my post pardom check up and I had an IUD inserted then.

  6. At your 6 weeks appt they ask you what kind of bc you want to be on. Since technically your not supposed to have s*x untill 6 weeks after the birth, although yes some people do.

  7. You are supposed to have a post-partum checkup at six weeks. Your doctor will let you know if it's safe to start taking them. If you don't plan on going to your post-partum checkup, wait until you stop bleeding.

  8. You have to wait until you have a period again, and start the pills like you would normally

  9. my doctor started me on birth control 2 weeks after having my son. I had a check up at that time and he said it would be fine to go ahead and start the pills.

  10. A doctor wont perscribe them until your 6 week appointment...So if you really want to have s*x - which you can do when you stop bleeding, unless you had stitches then you may want to wait a little more - use a condom...

  11. I think it's around your 6 week check up, but check with your OB/GYN for sure.  Just remember that just because you are breast feeding, doesn't mean you can't get pregnant again during that time!!!!  A lot of women must have missed that day in school when we were taught the truth behind the old wives tales that you can't get pregnant while breast feeding.

  12. i think you wait the six weeks. but idk
