How soon after my house is exterminated is it safe to bring back my cat?

We have exterminators coming on Wednesday, so I'm taking my cat to my brother's house on Tuesday night because they'll come while I'm in class.

How long should I wait before I pick up my cat and bring him home?

We live in a townhouse so the exterminator was hired by management, not us, so I don't know exactly what they'll be doing (if they're just spraying or if they'll use a bug bomb).

We also had a note left on our door warning "If someone in the house is pregnant or asthmatic please leave a note for the exterminator so they can take proper precautions". While I'm neither, I figure that if the stuff kills bugs dead, and can harm a fetus, it can do a lot of harm to a pet.

  1. Be Smart leave a note for the exterminator on the door asking them when you can bring your cat back home. then I would add 24 hours to that. If your brother doesn't mind.

  2. You should ask the exterminator. But I say, to be safe, after you stop smelling the smell, wait two weeks, and then bring your cats back. Before you do so, vaccum your house and such. But yeah to be safe, two weeks AFTER you can not smell the smell anymore.

  3. You have a right to know exactly what they are putting into your environment and provide you with proper instructions. Most of the chemicals the exterminators use are very dangerous. Your landlord should inform you.
