  1. Root growth is not an indication that an orchid will bloom.  But it is a good sign that the plant is growing.  Most orchids bloom based on the time of year which correlates to temperature and amount of lighting.  The best thing to do is read up on the light, water, and fertilizer requirements for your orchid and try to meet those needs.  You need a lot of patience with orchids but they're certainly worth the wait.
