I had my period July 28th or so for about 3 days. I had unprotected s*x last Sunday. This morning I woke up with brown spotting. Very slight. Could it be implantation bleeding? When can I get a positive result if so?

  1. sounds like it might be implantaion bleeding but i would wait till you miss your period before testing

    good luck!

  2. I do not think that this is implantation bleeding. If you just had your period 11-12 days ago, the spotting seems to be closer to your ovulation point. A woman usually ovulates anywhere from 10-16 days after a period .

Now the fact that you had unprotected s*x 6 days after your period does pose a risk of pregnancy since sperm can live up to several days inside the woman. The sperm may still be present to meet the egg once you ovulate.

In this case, I would wait 12-14 days from the time you started spotting to test. By then, I think the hpt should be reliable enough.

  3. I agree with the other poster that this is more likely ovulation spotting.  Implantation bleeding typically happens 5-10 days after ovulation.  The timing just doesn't line up for this one.  You would have  had to have ovulated at 5 dpo or so, and while that's not impossible, it's improbable.

    Good luck to you!!
