  1. It all depends on the QB and when the coach feels that they will benefit the team in playing. Favre for example is said to start ASAP where as P.Manning isn't set to start until the end of the month....

  2. Favre will not be effective, he is washed up.

Pennington will need a couple of weeks but he is Miami's best shot at a decent QB until Henne comes along.

  3. Brett is not going to have the Packer offensive line that protected him,Jet fans think he will take them to the playoffs, but it wasn't only Brett that won games for the Packers,a major part was the defense, and the jets do not have the same defense nor an offensive line to protect Brett as the Packers

  4. A lot is based upon the individual...Favre will carry his reputation with him, and the team should rally around him.

I don't believe that Brett is washed up, but it is yet to be seen as to whether or not New York can protect him and keep him on the field.

I hope that he takes them to the playoffs, then he will be vindicated.

  5. the jets coach says favre will start this saturday so i guess the answer is 7 days

  6. 4 to 6 weeks

  7. Favre will be as ready as he's going to be by opening day. He does NOT have the receivers with the Jets he had with the Pack - GB's receiving corps is rated with the best in the NFL. The Pack has a good, solid OL and a good/excellent RB in Ryan Grant. Their defense is very good, with unheralded young DBs ready to step in for older guys.

The Jets aren't in the Packers' league, and Favre will not make them all that much better. Also, at his age, you never know when the next year he plays he will be washed up. That could be THIS year.

  8. Favre is gonna need more then a week to get that old, bitter, butt back into playing condition.

  9. there is no right answer, it's all guesswork and depends on several variables.

-- how smart the qb is, getting to know the playbook, fast

-- how much experience the qb has

-- the differences in the offensive systems

-- ability to make quick decisions

-- and in my opinion the most important, how well he understands nfl defenses

add that all up and i think in the favre case he is just about ready to go
