The man who murdered my sister's best friend was sentenced to 20 years for voluntary manslaughter for killing his estranged wife. He got the same thing for killing a friend who was staying with her to help protect her from him. So a total of 40 years for 2 counts of voluntary manslaughter. Anybody know how soon this piece of trash will get out of jail? (Crime committed and he was sentenced in Polk County, Georgia if that makes a difference.)

  1. This is what I found: http://prisontalk.com/forums/showthread....

It looks like he will have to serve 65-90% of his time depending on his behavior in prison.  This is only for "eligibility".  The parole board may look at factors such as the severity of his crime and decide he should serve the entire sentence.  I don't know all the details but this sounds like it could have been two first or second degree intentional murders rather than "voluntary manslaughter".  I'm curious did he plea down to a lesser crime and plead guilty?  If that was the case then part of the agreement may be that he has to serve the entire sentence.

  2. Dunno.

If he was a child molesting baby killer in Vermont, he'd get off with a warning and no time served.
