How soon does the baby hormone show up on a test?

I read that it's 5 weeks after conception?

I saw my egg-white mucus on the 7th of this month. My husband and I have been doing everything right... my period is late, was due on the 27th and I took a test that day and it came up negative. Should I wait 5 weeks?

HCG Can show up a few days after implantation but some times it takes longer. I would say after you miss your period.
