How soon does the birth control pill "mircette" become effective?

I just got a prescription for it & will be picking it up.. Does anyone know how soon it is effective against pregnancy? Some say a month others say only 7 days. So confused. I'll ask my doc.. Any input apprecaited tho, especially people who have been on this particular pill..because I THINK it varies for different ones....thx!

which pill are you taking? i took ortho tri-cyclen as directed (same time every day and no anti-biotics) and the instructions said to wait 7 days before unprotected s*x. however, everyone else i knew instructed me to wait for 3 months. there was no way i was gonna wait three months to have unprotected s*x with my husband so i had unprotected s*x on the 8th day. according to the pill packet i should have been fine but now i am 6 weeks pregnant. luckily, my husband and i are thrilled to have a baby. its ultimately up to you whether you feel comfortable having unprotected s*x 7 days after taking the pill and would be alright with having a baby. it also depends on which pill you are on and every woman varies. just remember to take the pill the sunday after your next period and take it at the same time everyday without using antibiotics. if you are too nervous about it just use a condom.
