We don't plan on getting married until September 2009. When should we send out "engagement announcements" and "save the dates" ?

We have family that is out of state, but everybody knows we are engaged, and don't have plans to marry for over a year.......

  1. You can send out the engagement announcements now, and send the "save the date" cards around January or February 2009.

    Best wishes to you.

  2. You can send out engagement announcement when ever you are officially engaged - date or no.

If you know the date now why not - make it one mailing.

I know my sister in law got one "save the date over a year ahead".

  3. After the holidays, that way people still have plenty of time to make travel plans.

  4. We sent out our save the date cards a year before the wedding and at the bottom, we noted that a formal invitation would follow (we sent those about two months before the wedding). Everyone from out of town made their plans in advance, and everything worked out perfectly.
