I was talking to a friend of mine today, she has a 2 year old and a 7 week old. She surprisingly wants to have another fairly soon. I think shes crazy. She told me just a few weeks ago that it was SO hard having two kids in diapars ect. So I was surprised to hear this. I told her that I wanted to enjoy my daughter while she is little and wait ~at least~ 3 years until considering a 2nd baby. She said that I shouldn't wait too long...? I just feel like ppl push it...whats the rush...it isn't a race. I don't have a problem with anyone deciding to have their kids close together, I'm just wondering why we (women) feel so much pressure to constantly have more. I want my child and my future children to get as much nuturing as possible while they are small....I don't want to be juggling 3 kids all under 3 or 4 years...ya know. So Moms...whats your opinion? If you waited, do you regret it~~~ or vise versa?

  1. What actually is the benefit of having them close together? heh i fail to see the benefit.

Even kids 4 years or 5 years apart can be best of friends.

Do what you feel is right, i agree with you. I'd wait.

  2. I don't have children. But from a sibling standpoint:

I am my brother's elder by three and half years, and we've always gotten along, just because we weren't really ever forced to share anything, like school (except for my last year of high school) and sunday school classes and things like that. We're exceptionally close, and I know that I will always watch out and take care of him.

My best friend and her sister are barely 2 years apart and they are ALWAYS tearing at each other's throats! They practically have to share everything and it was quite a conflict at school. Plus their closeness in age but difference in opinions was a constant ticking bomb.

Finally, my boyfriend and his sister are separated by 6 years and THAT'S TOO MUCH! She's just now entering jr. high and he's in college. She worships him to the point of idolatry and HATES me. It's also tough because he really isn't there for her.

Well there's my take. Don't rush 'em, enjoy them!

  3. It's totally your choice! Dont let them pressure you...Try for #2 when YOUR ready :)

It's really hard having 2 or more children in diapers ect.

My sister has a 4 kids, the youngest is 8 months and she's pregnant again...I had twins when my son was 10 months...Veery hard. So next time someone says that your waiting a loong time just say nah, I dont think so :) And change the subject... Good luck!

Me and my siblings arequite far apart and we all get along PERFECT :) Of course it's good to have a brother or sister your around the same age as, but trust me...That sometimes causes jelousy, fights...ect.

  4. Another child is a big step and lots of work. Please do not feel pressured to rush into anything. Wait until you feel ready. No one else can determine that for you. Also, what works for others might not be the best choice for you. Enjoy your little one!

  5. I disagree, I have 3 siblings and we are all within 5 1/2 years of each other I have a son that just turned 1 yesterday and I am currently 18 weeks pregnant with a baby girl (we just found out today) I am as happy as can be and I do not regret a thing, I would rather have my children close together so they are in school together and can be able to talk about stuff that is going on at their school and in life... I am so happy that my mother had us all close together, each of us were in high school with someone else in our family and we helped each other succeed!!!

  6. Why have people gone through and rated every single one of these answers negatively ?? I don't understand it. What's so important with popping out kids like a race? Surely a strong relationship between the mother and child should be the priority here (ie. the ability to have quality time with each child), NOT thoughtless reproduction....
