  1. my son is 15 wks and we are trying him on it now on the advice of his ped.

  2. My daughter was getting cereal in her bottles at *gasp* 6 weeks old. Lol, we were staying with an old school mom of four who was sneaking it into her bottles while we weren't looking. And don't you know she slept through the night at 7 weeks old? Lol, I flipped out, but it worked. My brat is 19 months old, and very very tall for her age, she's taking after her 7 ft. papa going at 36 inches and 29 lbs. She's not obese, in fact, the doctors all say how remarkably healthy she is, lol. She's soo tall and thin, lol, cept for that potbelly and bowed back that she'll outgrow in the next year sometime. Or that's what they told me :) Good luck!

  3. A week before 4 months.  But my son was eating over 40 oz of formula a day.  Was told by his doc to try and see if he likes it.  He loved it.  Now at almost 6 months he has had at 3 day intervals  just about everything, and gets tiny nibbles of my food.  :)

  4. I started at five months but you can start earlier about 3 or 4 months just make sure it is ok with his pediatrician.

  5. My son was 5 months.  I tried it and he couldn't grasp it, so, I waited a month and started again.  At 6 months, he grasped it and then I moved on to baby foods.

  6. 4 months old

  7. 4 and a bit months old, they didnt like it though :)

  8. 3 months due to reflux, but it upset her tummy.  I started her on solids (fruits and veggies) at 4.5 months because she was eating 46+oz of formula a day.

  9. by bottle at 3 months was advised by pediatrician, then by spoon was 4 months

  10. 4 months old.

  11. 3 months!

  12. I did not give cereal. It is heavily processed, not to mention lacks taste and texture, which is the whole point of introducing solids. I waited until 6 months to introduce solids, per AAP and WHO recommendations. I tried, but he was not interested. So I waited until he showed a readiness for solids. He did not really take to solids until he was about 14 months old. He started on very little bits of table foods around 9 months, but still was not ready and ate very little.

  13. 6 months, when I started with solids because I breastfed him. But, I also had another baby living with me, whose doctor prescribed a spoonful of rice cereal only in his bottles to help with acid reflux. It's not good to put a 2 month old on cereal though unless the doctor tells you, but it did help him.

  14. 3 1/2 months with approval of pediatrician

  15. i started giving dylan rice cereal in his bottles (just 1 tsp per 4 ounces) at a very early age... only because it helps with acid reflux/ spitting up.  enfamil even sells a formula with added rice starch.

he's 3.5 months now and i have given him cereal with a spoon a couple of times.. it has to be very watery still though, not too thick at all.. 4 months i'll start to thicken it up a little, and go over a 'solids' meal plan with his pediatrician

  16. 4 months.

  17. 4 months. No metter what people say... if YOU feel your baby needs cereal then give it to them. only the mother knows the baby.

Dont put cereal in the bottle, it is a chocking hazard. Feed it from the spoon

  18. I have seen & answered this question on here alot. One thing I can tell is that there seems to be differing opinions depending on where you live!! My oldest started cereal at about 5 and a half months and the youngest at 4 months. At the time, these were the ages recommended by the child health nurse (has since moved back to 6 months). Both my kids were big (My youngest was 10 kg at 6 months)

By cereal, do you mean the rice stuf?? Contrary to popular belief, this is not designed for nutritional value - apart from the added iron content - but for your baby to experience something other than liquid. Once they are used to this texture, then you move on to actual food that provides nutrients. The reason for waiting to feed them solids is that the earlier they start, the more likely it will be that allergies will develope. Obviously not every child that starts solids early will develope allergies but it is something to think about. I would suggest that once your child is around the 6 months mark, you mix up a tablespoon of the rice ceral and see how you go. If it comes straight back out,it could be an indication that they are not quite ready. Ten, you just try again the next day.

I would recommend a chat with your childs health nurse or paedeatrition and get some professional guidance.

  19. 4 months

  20. about 3 months old our pediatrician told us at 2 months we could start when we felt she was ready. we used an infant feeder for a month until we started baby food and then by spoon only.

  21. Five months but he was a BIG boy and seemed ready.  If your baby can sit up pretty much by himself/herself then he is probably ready.
