How soon to have stag and doe?

Question

How many months before a wedding should a stag and doe be held? Can it be earlier if people know how much the bride and groom need money? We are getting married in August 2009 and want to have the stag and doe in April-ish area.

And yes I know we don't plan it, but my maid of honour is going to and she wants to know when we want it.

Well here in the US it is considered tacky and rude to pretty much ask for money..... so if you didnt want anybody else but canada to answer you should have mentioned that!

I'm from Canada.... I know exactly what your talking about. I'm getting married in July 2009 and were having out buck and doe in March. It is actually better to have it before you send out your invites that way not to be rude but more people will show up because they won't be concerned about not getting an invite just then. That's why were having ours earlier. It's a good way to make a little extra cash!

Sorry you're having problems getting an answer.  I'm from the United States and thought a Stag and Doe meant something else.  Maybe try also asking on the Canada part of the site?

I think it sounds like a fun time and not so much about money.  Based on what you said in your edits, your time line of April should be OK.  

I'm sure you realize this, but make sure you don't plan on whatever funds come in as part of your budget.  Consider it a gift and stay within what you've planned and can afford.

A Stag and Doe (or Jack and Jill), should be no more than one month from the wedding date.  Since it is the combining of a stag party (the weekend before the wedding) and a shower.

If you are that broke, why are you getting married?
