Ok I have been on child support for a few months now but I havnt been able to pay cuz I havnt had a job. My child support is about 220 a month. Well I just got a job now and my job pays me about 500 every 2 weeks. I just want to know how soon will child support start taking money out my checks?? will it be as soon as my first check or my second or third check?? I owe back pay as well. And I also would like to know if they will take money out of all my checks or only once a month?? If I owe more than 5,000 on my back pay and my paycheck is only 500 will they take my whole check?? Thanks

  1. Even if you give your payroll people the information and they let the state know it can take anywhere from 2 to 3 months for the state to start taking it out.  On the back cs some of the 220 goes toward your back...thay can not take your whole paycheck but when your file a tax returen that will go to the state directly and be given to the mother. Any more questions let me know

  2. It can take up to 6 weeks for them to take it out depending on the case load or whatnot. Until they do, you should give your babies mother monies and get her to sign a receipt showing you paid and that can go towards the back child support. If she is unwilling to do that, tell her she can wait because that means she is up to something.

  3. They can't take the whole check. You have to have funds to live on as well, and be healthy enough to work to pay it.

I'd call the judge and ask for for a few minutes of his time and ask if it's too soon to ask for a modification of support. Or call child support enforcment. You will get better answers for your area.

  4. Well, if you provide your HR department with a copy of your child support deduction order, as ordered by the judge... almost immediately.  But, if the person receiving the money has to hunt you down to provide whoever with the information on where you work, etc. there will be a slight delay... but the judge WILL find out about it and give it to you if you ever have to go back to court.

As far as the past due amount, that will have to be revised by the courts.  They will not hit you all at once with that one.  My ex owes me over $13k right now and I only get $11.23 a month towards it... yep... my son will be collecting child support on himself when he has his own kids!

Be a better man than most, go to HR and help everyone out.
