How stable is a pontoon boat ?

my wife is used to be on a boat, i iwll like ot have apontoon boat for the family, is it safe or really bad in rough water... like 5-6' swell.... on a lake

appear to be safe.ever try to tip one over?never in over 30 years on the water seen one in trouble

pontoon boats are like big blat docks iv i were u i would get a scout with a v-hull these are extremely stable on all sorts of water because the V-hull tends to cut through the waves

They are extremely stable with regards to being overturned, however, I must caution you.  If you frequent lakes that actually have 5 to 6 foot swells, the pontoon style boat is not usually powerful enough or nimble enough to navigate these waters reliably.  Talk to a marine products dealer and find out more about what type of craft will suite this type of boating safely....PLEASE!!
