I'm 18 and I know the drinking age is 19 where I'm going, so how hard is it for someone who is underage to get into a bar/club and get served?

  1. These days, it's pretty hard.  They ID at the door, with black lights and other technology to check that your ID is real.

Even if you manage to get in, if a bartender doubts your age, you'll be ID'd then too.

  2. Most decent places will ask for ID if they suspect at all that you are underage.  They do not want to lose their license and be shut down.

  3. Could I just point out that you're talking about a massive country where most of the main cities are about a twelve hour drive away from each other?  Which specific place are you talking about?  A particular city?  That's like asking what the weather is like in Europe...!

    Edit:

k, in Vancouver they'll be relatively strict.  In other parts of the province, not so much.  Remember really try to not be a dink and sneak in and try to get served underage.  If they willingly let you, don't feel bad, but don't be sneaky about it.  If the bartender is caught serving to a minor they are PERSONALLY responsible for something like a $1000 fine that the work does not have to cover.  I've had coworkers who've had to deal with that before and it's awful.

  4. Its getting tough  . Dont try it  Fines are normaly high

  5. It is easyer for girls than guys.  Still hit or miss.

  6. Pretty much, the fines are really high and the person letting you in pays them. Same for cigarettes in Canada. Steep fines for the persons selling to minors. We are talking something like 2000 dollars here. So yes, they will ask your for ID. I am 35 and look younger, get asked for ID.

And we don't have underage entry, I hear the USA does that but you can't drink.
