How strong will Matt Kuchar be at the RBC Canadian Open?
RBC Canadian Open tees off on Thursday and, with the last minute addition of Ernie Els to the field, the competition is stronger than ever. The Canadian Open is the third oldest golf tournament of the world after the British Open and the US Open.
The field boasts a strong line-up, featuring numerous major winners and other title hopefuls. The defending champion Sean O’Hair will also be appearing in the event.
Matt Kuchar, a rising American, will also be looking to bag in his second title of the season. Matt has been in pretty good run of form recently, finishing among the top-ten at the Travelers and at The Open as well.
Last year at the Canadian Open, Matt hardly made a mark. He shot both of his rounds above par and failed to make the cut even. However, Kuchar’s recent run of form might help him a little in challenging for the title.
A T9 finish at the Open Championship was really something to be proud of because, on Sunday, the conditions were so tough that almost every player on the field succumbed to the conditions.
At the Canadian Open, it will not be merely a walk in the park for Kuchar, as Ernie Els and numerous other house hold names are taking part.
Players such as Ernie Els, Jim Furyk and Brandt Snedeker will prove to be tough contenders at the Canadian Open, especially Snedeker and Els, both of them had a terrific Open.
Snedeker shot a record score in the second round to lead the Open, whereas Els lodged a brilliant come back in the last round to win the Open from nowhere.
The defending champion Sean O’Hair will also be looking to defend his title successfully after coming from a very poor season.
The competition is wide open at the RBC Canadian Open. All that is to be seen is who will be able to hold their nerve in tight situations.
We saw at the Open that Adam Scott succumbed to pressure and could not make regulations putts, which cost him the title at the Royal Lytham.
Matt will have to hold his nerve if he wants to land his second title of the season.
