  2. You measure equines from the ground to the shoulder - so these heights will be measured in this way. There are three species of zebra, the mountain zebra is the smallest - 1.2-1.3 metres which is about the size of a small pony. Next is the plains zebra which is about 1.4 m, about the height of a large pony and finally there is Grevy's zebra which runs from about 1.45-1.6 m - the largest animals are the same size as a good-sized riding horse (for comparison 1.6 m = 16 hh the common way of quoting a horse's height).

  5. Mountain zebras have been recorded at commonly four to five feet tall at the shoulder. are weighed between 530 and 820 pounds. and are larger than at least one other zebra i know of.
