How tall can fir trees be in your garden before the neighbours complain?

  1. As tall as you like so long as they do not block the light into the neighbouring property - mine are 20ft tall - but they do not affect my neighbours light.

    His are 10 ft taller than mine - again they do not affect my light


  2. I think a new law says 6ft if it is the border

  3. legally i dunno, but as soon as it starts to affect their light,they may get antsy

  4. As a garden designer we advise clients that when evergreen boundaries reach a height of 6ft neighbours can complain to the local council and insist you trim them.  Neighbours can also hack away at them if they overhang their land - but they do have to give you the clippings back!!!!!!
