  1. It doesn't matter that much if you are not tall enough, it is more of the quickness and "soft fingers" that would catch the eyes of coaches.

If you can get under the ball no matter how flat the pass is, and set the ball wherever the coach wants to set (within reasonable range), you will be a good setter.

Usually the setter would have be part of the blocking effort when in front row, so that it would help if you are 6-ft and above.

  2. Tall is good, but the hands are what counts!!!

  3. maybe 5'6 or so would be better

  4. A setter should be tall. For girls to play Division 1, I would say 5'10 and for a guy 6'4 at least. This is because you have to play front row if you play setter at the college level. There are 2 exceptions, if the team runs a 6-2 system which is not common in college, or if you are just beyond amazing at setting. Both are possible.

When I played at Nationals one year I happened to watch the Argentinian Men's National Team play and their setter is only 5'4. 2 things allowed for this: 1) he was beyond amazing, one of the 3 best setter's i've seen, and I've played with Beau Daniels (won NCAA titles with BYU as their Setter). 2) they had a 6'11 OH and a 7' MB in the front row sweeping the net by themselves and he would just stand behind them and let them block.

If you are that good then height won't matter, the coach will adjust for you. If you aren't that good height is important

  5. i'm a setter and i'm super short!! I'm only 5'3" but i love to set. my team runs a lot of 5-1 and don't really have to jump 'cause it would be against the rules since i'm coming from the backrow and i played on both of the teams the one for the better players ( i start) and the one for the not so great players but i don't really mind and i can't jump very high but i can hit better than some people on my team. so you don't have to be tall but have to learn to jump esp. if your also a hitter

  6. DOESN'T MATTER AS LONG AS U KNOW WHEN IT'S TIME TO SHINE SOOO GOOD LUCK WITH VOLLEYBALL!!!!

    P.S.

EAT,SLEEP, PLAY VOLLEYBALL........EATING AND SLEEPING OPTIONAL!!!!!!

  7. it doesnt  matter im 5'0 on my varsity team and im second setter

  8. It really doesn't matter as long as you can jump high enough to block power hitters. And if you can jump that high then you can jump set, so height isn't a factor.

  9. doesn't matter as long as u can jump and have soft hands...[[not soft feeling just gentle when u set it]]

  10. well im on my team there are 2 setters in the 14s and 1 is 5'4 and the other is 5'2 on the 16s the setter is 5'7??? so any height is fine i think

  11. any hight is fine!

im not the tallest or shortest on

    my school varsity team but

i play setter still.a setter is trying

to set up high for someone else, not being

the setter who hits over the net.

  12. it doesnt really matter how tall you are, it jsut depends if you can sett the ball or not...the setter on my volleyball team is only 5' 4"

  13. i dont really think the height matters when your a setter b/c if your on a team && your on the shortside like me ((5ft if that)) your coach is goin to put you as backrow or a setter
