How tall is a 3 mile high tsunami compared to the height of buildings in nyc for example.?

  1. I think the first answer was very precise. However, most large waves and tsunamis don't get to be more than about 20 feet high. I suppose if the earth were struck with an asteroid, we might see a 3 mile high tsunami, but I'm afraid that the earth would go through another one of its lifeless cycles.

    There have been 5 mass extinction events (90% of species extinguished) in the past 650 million years. At least three of them are attributed to global warming!


  2. Well, lets take a few known building heights

    Empire state building is 1,250 ft high

    The world trade centres where about 1776 ft

    Now, a 3 mile high tsunami is 15 840 ft high

    So this would make it just over 15.6 times the height of the Empire state building! (15,840 / 1,250)

    So that is quite a large tsunami, if you see it coming, Run!
