Question:

How tall is a Texas Longhorn not including the horns?

I have searched everwhere and i cant find it its for my ag class for the FFA thanks

  1. The old, original breeds of longhorns, from the old west were up to 72 inches at the shoulder and were skin and bones.

    The newer breeds which are crossed w/ such as angus and hereford for heavy beef, are breed for color ... and run the same size as the crosses they come from. (certified herds are still from crossbred stock, but that newer variety of longhorns have been so long breed that it is close to all there are and are considered certified) run 48 to 60", at shoulder.


  2. They are sixty inches at the shoulder.

    But some breeds are bred for height and some for compactness so that is a "typical" number.

    Horn size is easy to find but height IS tough.
