How tall would you have to be to be a jet pilot?

Would it be better if you were shorter? or taller? or it doesn't matter? please explain your answer.

  1. John McCain is only 5'6" so obviously you don't have to be very tall.


  2. 5"4" to 6'7"

    your weight has to correspond with your height, AKA your body mass index has to be in proportion with your height.

  3.   Officially, I believe there is some flexibility in todays requirements, given that aircraft is all different and some are feather merchant friendly and others suit the bigger guys more.

    The minimum that I recall is 5'3" and the max about 6' 4" !  Now, this is all from recall, so naturally someone will come up with official numbers if they haven't already !

  4. Contact the service in question and ask them the requirements.

  5. From what I remember from Brooks, it's mostly about sitting height.  However, if you're too short sometimes it's waiverable; meaning that you'll still be able to fly, but limited to a certain type of aircraft.

  6. Tall enough to see over the dash.....
