I have been doing ballet for 6 years now and i am 14.... but im still not on pointe!

♥I KNOW MY FEET ARE STRONG ENOUGH:

Every time i releve' onto the balls of my feet, i feel the need to go higher, all the way onto pointe!

♥I KNOW MY CORE IS STRONG ENOUGH:

In all my other dance classes we do hundreds of crunches every day to improve our core.

♥I HAVE BALANCE:

I was the first in my class to get a double & triple pirouette

I can balance in pose, coupe, etc. for AGES!

♥I AM FLEXIBLE AND WORK THE HARD IN THE CLASS! I am the only one in my class with my splits down!

I know i am ready to be on pointe! I don't want it JUST BECAUSE... I really want to improve and progress as a dancer! My teacher is not strict, but she is picky about who she puts on pointe! HOW CAN I SHOW HER I'M READY FOR THIS?!?! Please help me! Its something I have worked so hard for! I WANT THIS SO BADLY!

x*x Thanx! x*x

  1. go to a new teacher =^..^=

  2. first ask your teacher why your not on pointe yet. and try to convince her that your strong enough and ready. shes prolly just worried that you will hurt yourself. im the strongest in my class (im 12) and i still got a minor injury my first year on pointe.  Also go to your doctor and ask if your feet are done growing. because if your put on pointe when your feet are still growing you can get deformed, or injured really bad. And You might think  your ready, but are you a profesional? no, your teacher is. just trust her.

  3. You need a lot more than being able to stand on the balls of your feet. I was a dancer from age 3 to 15. I was on point shoes pretty young. For me, it had nothing to do with balance or strength or flexibility. it was just a natural progression to the next level. And it isn't as fun as you may think. I thought I was prepared and I was very very mistaken. Breaking in the shoes is the hardest part (I suggest a hammer...but you have to go at it just right so you don't fully break the box shape at the toes). No amount of resin or bandages or lambswool will cushion those toes. Be prepared for bloody painful toes and feet that kill every day (depending on what kind of organization you're in). Ultimately, being on point really screws up your feet.

Your teacher clearly has standards that she goes by...not sure what those are. You can either go to a different troupe or organization  OR you can tough it out with this teacher. Go ahead and ask her why she hasn't let you move up to point. You may be surprised at the answer.

I can tell you...in the long run....being on point was a low time in my short career. I still have foot problems because of it.

  4. why don't you talk to your teacher and see what she thinks you should be working on???

  5. Is there any in class who are on pointe but can't do your skills. Maybe she's waitiong for you to get a bit older.
