How terrestrial animal embryo survive in the dry condition?

  1. In terrestrial animals, embryo is never in contact with outside environment. In mammals, it is carried inside the mother's womb until it is large enough and ready to survive the outside environment. In Birds and reptiles, it grows inside an egg which is impenetrable unless it is cracked.
