How the altitude of the cumulonimbus cloud can be identified by the height temperature of the cloud?

  1. If you know the cloud-top temperature, say from an infrared satellite image, you can estimate the cloud top height either by looking at nearby radiosonde data, or by using the ISA (standard atmoshere).

    This works for any type of cloud... any type that you can see in an IR image.
