  1. There is a system composed of heart and vessels which is responsible for pumping and carrying the blood. There are three types of vessels.1st,arteries carry oxygenated blood which carry blood to the organs, except the "pulmonary artery" carrying blood to lungs carry deoxygenated blood.2nd, veins carry deoxygenated blood from the organs to the heart, except the pulmonary vein carry oxygenated blood. Finally the is the capillaries which is at the level of the tissues responsible for exchange between arterial and venus blood. As you can see we can splt the circulation into two types; the one reaching the lung only and called pulmonary circulation, the other reaching the organs and called the systemic circulation

  2. Te heart is a pump.  When it contracts, it sends a volume of blood out into the aorta, which is the largest artery.  Arteries take the blood away from the heart to the rest of the body.  The arteries become smaller, eventually turning into capillaries (the smallest vessels).   These eventually turn into veins, which return the blood to the heart.  It's obviously a bit more complex than that, but that's the basic idea.
