  2. A Carburetor is basically a reservoir that holds the gas, with tubes and passageways built into it. When your engine is running, it sucks air in, which pulls the fuel through these passages. Except for the accelerator pump, which is well, a pump! LOL As far as the technical aspects, this is the place to start on the Wikipedia page;
