  1. Drill a pattern of drill holes. Measure standing ground water levels. Use a pump to draw down the level of water. Note how long it takes and any variation between holes. Progressively monitor as holes recharge. Pump out again.

    By noting the amount of time to recharge and the volume pumped out we can work out flow rate. Direction is calculated by which hole/s recharge first and subsequent order of recharging.
