Um... this should be easy, they gave me Component Cables, but I bought an HDMI cable instead... so I hooked that up and plugged the connection into an outlet. But for some reason it wont work... Could someone please give me a step by step process on how to set this thing up?

Thanks

  1. with Comcast and HD displays you may need to do what I had to do.  While the DVR is off and the tv on, hit menu on the remote.  That should bring up a menu that will let you select the correct resolution for the hdmi. ie 1080i/p 720p.  Good Luck

  2. One possible reason is that your TV has HDMI that is not HDCP compatible. If that is the case, HDMI won't work with the cable box. TVs built a few years ago with HDMI were not HDCP compatible. Another possibility is that you have to go into the boxes settings. I suggest you contact Comcast.

Most cable companies use component cables so that they can avoid these issues.
