It's more of a sport than rowing, diving, track or swimming. Ping pong involves offense, defense, and strategy. And a player's action has a direct affect on their opponents. Anyways, if tennis and badminton is a sport, then why can't Ping Pong be a sport.

i don't know. it must be difficult, but it seems somewhat stupid. that's is just my opinion and i do not wish to offend anyone. ask the chinese if you want a better answer. they did invent it so if anyone were to know, it would be them...

Are you kidding? Have you seen some of the other sports??

walk racing? badminton? ping pong is really popular and highly regarded in other countries, its just the US that plays it to get drunk.

I saw a live ping pong game at sydney paralympic games and was quite suprized that I enjoyed it as much as I did.  I saw it because other sport where full.  At top level it is a work out.  Beside as it only take up a small space people can play it any where.

In all seriousness, in 2012 in London, they are adding as a sport Hangman and Hungry Hungry Hippos.  To the guy who said ping pong is more of a sport than rowing, try rowing for 10 minutes, then speak.  Ping pong should only be playerd after consuming 4 or more beers.
