    Ocean water provide a good source of moisture to the atmosphere through the process of evaporation.  It plays a main role in the Earth's hydrological cycle.

    Ocean water temperatures will help moderate the Earth's surface temperature.  With warner sea surface temperature, you will generally increase the moisture ans instability of the lower pat of the atmosphere.  This extra heat energy and instability can result in the development of a stronger jet stream.  It can also help change the location of the core of he jet stream.  This jet stream is where winter storms usually follows.

    Hurricanes need warm water so won't form over Antarctica in cold oceans.
