Question:

How the three laws of thermodynamics might usefully apply to information systems theory thought

I have an upcoming class in Information Systems Architecture and Technology. The first assignment is to:

"Write a one to two page paper proposing how the three laws of thermodynamics might usefully apply to information systems theory thought. Besides using the course text, find and use at least two other scholarly sources as fuel for the thought behind the content of this proposal. "

Maybe I'm a bit too 'old school' (I've worked in IT in various capacities for the past 12 years, and even longer as a 'hobby') but I cannot for the life of me figure out how thermodynamics would come into play when dealing with information systems architecture and technology. Unless it has some obscure relation to thermodynamic systems (isolated, closed, and open), but applying the 3 laws makes no sense at all. (yes, I know it could be argued that there are also the zeroth, and Onsager reciprocal relations to make it 5 laws)

Here's the kicker, the assignment will be due within the first week of class. I am waaaayyy out of my element here. Anyone with a BInfoTech degree have any ideas? For that matter, anyone?
