I can't understand your quesion, are you asking how they made the images or the devices?

Scientists are people who love to imagine i.e. think beyond the realms of normal thinking. They are also good observers and based on their observations of what happens in nature they do their activities.

e.g.- Newton just observed a apple falling down and he came up with his laws which are practical.

The air conditioners example is also one, we all know about air currents and how winds are created and based on how hot air and cold air works the Air conditioner was made by simulating the heating and cooling effects.

In the North pole it's cold so when hot air currents go their they get cold and come down towards the equator...

It's a nifty thing calledImagine technology.  For those wondering, it is a picture of Central Air Conditioning.

Imagine if we still had to go outdoors to use the outhouse?  Or if our only light at night were the candles on our nightstand?  Or if we judged the time of day by where the sun was in the sky?  Or if our only entertainment at home was a good book?

Instead, we have indoor polumbing that allows us to have indoor bathrooms.  We have  lightbulbs to see at night.  We have clocks and watchees to tell the time of day.  And we have all sorts of entertainment at home, such as stereo's, tv, video, DVD's, radio, home theater systems, and all sorts of other entertainment.

Who do we thank for all this?  People who went to school and learned how things work, and were lucky enough to notice the results of a mistake in their experiments at home while trying to create something completely different.

Any good imaging program can create pictures like these, even a skilled hand can draw pictures like these.  

The object is not to as how they made these picturees, you should be saying "wow, I need to learn about drawing like that!"  Or "I should learn more about what the pictures are about so I can possibly improve it!"
