  1. about an inch thick, max of about an 1-1/4" and minimum of about 3/4".

Depends on the rink and the guy who's making the ice. everybody does things a little bit differently.

Ice is kept at 16-17 Degrees F though, I believe that's mandated by the league.

  2. Probably about 1 inch or 1 1/2 inches. It depends on how cold it is.

  3. -10 to 5

  4. Most NHL arena ice surfaces measure one-inch thick and are cooled to between -4° C and -6° C.

I've read some are kept closer to 3/4 of an inch though.

The link below is pretty cool too.

  5. The ice is actually between 1/2" and 3/4" thick and the ideal temperature is between 14-18 degrees fahrenheit for hockey.  It is kept a little warmer than that for figure skating.

  6. Great link, Iceman.  No wonder everyone was complaining about the ice at the Igloo during the SCF.  They couldn't keep it cold enough.  I guess it may be tough to get the temps right  in some of the older arenas.
