Question:

How thick of scuba gloves should I get?

I am looking for a pair in minnesota waters at about 25-100 feet deep and some florida quarry diving, should I get 3 mm or 5?

  1. You should get five millimeters and if you see them, buy the kind marked something like, "semi-dry" so that way you will stay even warmer.


  2. I would go with 5. they'll keep your hands warmer in the cold water of minnesota. And if you go to 100 feet it will be cold.

  4. What the water temps you'll be diving in?  Sounds like you'll want the 5mm for MN. diving. Your water temps are probably a lot like mine, Where I use a 5mm Kevlar palmed glove.   Florida quarries you may only need reef gloves (or no gloves) to dive with.

  5. If it's cold enough to warrant using them, then opt for the 5mm given the choice. Personally, I've never seen neo gloves offered in anything but a 5mm. Certainly not a 3mm anywhere near me in the Toronto area. Reef gloves, yes, a thinner material and not usually neo. Those don't offer much in the way of exposure protection, they're more for protection against skin abrasion or contact with fire coral.
