Like is there a counter always set at zero and numbers roll off of that and that is past?

Are we always living in the past?

Is there such thing as a real present, when the counter is constantly at 00000etc?

Weird to think about.........

  1. The present IS the line between the past and future. Events are categorized on either side.

  2. pick me for best answer i need hte points to lv na just joking i think you need to re word what you said

  3. Don't forget to throw some relativity stuff in there to complicate matters.  What if you're going at near the speed of light and you compare that time with the time of someone on Earth?

  4. In the present you are running on empty .

  5. there is no present, there is only past and future, if you really think about it actually.

  6. Between the past and the present is a line so thin that "ten millionth of a  millisecond is far, far too thick of a time line.

  7. milliseconds..

  8. The present is now, now, now, now, now, now, now, now, now, now, now, now,now,now.....it's a pretty thin line.

  9. There is no line at all

  10. very confusing to think about also. all i know is that one second ago we were in the past, but in another second we will be in the future, everything in between that is the present.

  11. there is no present. It's here for a second then it's past. But there is future. The line in between them is changing every second.

  12. wow thanks for making me thinking out that and confusing me lol

    Past-already happened

    present-going on now

  13. we percieve the present, but to make sense of it at all we have to think of the past and the future. q. see, i just typed the letter q to show that in the present (okay, it was the past, just pretend) i saw the letter q appear on the computer screen. the past told me i typed it, so i knew it wasn't a computer mixup, and the future told me i was going to make a point so i wasn't just typing q randomly.

i guess there is a present, but look into the whole everything-happens-a-few-nanoseconds-bef... thing. is when it's actually happening the present, or is the time we see it the present? or is the present merely a moment in time that isn't infinity zero and really just the moment our brains are experiencing?

    i don't know, but that's why it's called philosophy.

  14. These lines are intertwined with your cerebral cortex.

  15. That is a very interesting question, with several ways to look at it.

1.) The line is very thin. A millionth of a second by definition is in the past. Therefore the past could be less than that old.

2.) Any event that has come to pass is in the past. Each day may be considered the present day, while yesterday is in the past.

3.) Time is a human concept. Created to better understand the days, nights, seasons, and weather changes that make up this world.  Time may or may not exist in any form, but may be a fabrication of the human mind. Therefore the past is only the measured days and nights, seasons etc that has gone by and witnessed by humans.

4.) Perhaps time loops forwards and backwards. The past is the present the present is the future, the future is the past at all times. If everything is pre-destined as some believe, then maybe it is because time overlaps itself on all ends. Giving the sense of da ja vu, or having lived this life once before. An old soul in an youthful body, etc.

Perhaps we may never know, or perhaps that comes with enlightenment or with moving on.   Maybe there is no answer but the one that remains to be found.

  16. well the future is constantly becoming the past therefore there is no present so yeah it is kind of wierd

  17. the answer lies in different perspectives of other people.. some people doesn't really think about their past anymore because they believe that past is past and present is present..something like that.

you can't really measure it.. like love and wind.. you can't see it, but you can feel it.

in my own point of view.. and what i always feel.. i tend to live or safe to say "think" about my past constantly.. "nostalgic" specifically is what i feel most of the time.

we are what we are now because of our past..we learned from it..and such..

  18. Too thin to even tell the difference. Past, present or one big waste of time. Who knows...

  19. i dunno,i had this question one time why is it that we think  what we do now affect the future but not the past?

why cant we effect the past the same way.

why this one way thinking. not to think about these things i think is being asleep.. or something...

  20. All there is is now. Past is history. It is a story told by an idiot.

  21. The line is as thin as this moment. That moment, the one I was just talking about is already gone. By the time you'd finished reading the sentence the moment was gone. Just the two words "this moment" then became the past moment. So that now is now the past. The now in that past sentence is also the past. Does anybody else's brains hurt?

  22. there is nothing weird.....you are what you are today.....and you are what you did yesterday...and what will you become in your future is what you have done all along........

but see...experience of what is happening now....surprises you a lot....cause it adds up to you......
