  1. Thrombophlebitis isn't an infection. It does, however, look like one.

    It can occur when there is a clot in a vein, usually the leg. Most commonly, the superficial veins.

    Treatment :

    1) NSAIDS like ibuprofen

    2) aspirin

    3) heat

    4) compression

    It's usually cured by time. Rarely, it can cause leg swelling to a degree that arterial circulation can be impaired. In this case, thrombolytic drugs can be used to dissolve the clot.
