Question:

How to 180 on a BMX Bike?

So I've been trying to 180 for quite some time, but only recently have I been working really hard at getting it.

I can get a 180 off of a jump, but I'd like to get one on flat land. I can get a pretty high bunny hop, but I can only spin 110ish degrees.

I've been getting extremely discouraged because I ride 100 times more than some of my friends and they're getting just as far with 180s as I am.

Any tips? And how long did it take you to learn yours?

  1. It probably took me a month or two of and off practice (I didn't ride while at college unless I came on a weekend) throughout that time.  Work on your hops and just commit.  Make sure you turn your head the way your spinning as hard as you can (to a degree obviously, don't kill yourself) and your body will following.  It's all practice, some kids can just pick certain things up faster then others it's a part of life.  Don't get discouraged and keep on practicing, I know how you feel.  Also, say you spin to the right.  When you're learning it makes it easier if you turn to the left a little bit and then turn right and go into the spin; it will help get things going.  Obviously if you spin the other way it's the opposite of what I just said.

Now practice, practice, practice.  And have fun in the process, a negative attitude won't help any (first hand experience as well).
