I have a male and a female Asian Tiger Striped Tarantula. They live in seperate 10 gallon aquariums. I am interested in breeding them. How do I go about doing this? What do I need? How do I make sure that the female wont kill the male? I need all the advice I can get. Thanks in advance for anything you can tell me about tarantula breeding!

  1. Agreed. Male tarantulas only live 5-7 years. They die for two reasons. The first reason is that they mate and the female kills them. The other reason is that once a male tarantula reaches sexual maturity in the wild he comes out of his hidey hole in search of a mate. Often times he is crushed or eaten by a predator. If he manages to make it but doesn't find a mate he starves to death. Male tarantulas brains no longer send them hunger signals once they are sexually mature so they literally die of starvation.

Tis better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all. Mate them and good luck!
