I found a website that tells you how to build a wind turbine

http://moveto.ws/10c3tl09d

I guess my real question is Has anyone here actually been able to build a windturbine? Does it pay for itself? What is the payback time? Anyone actually sold eletricity back to the power company like this site says

  1. The professionally installed kits are pretty pricey (on the order of thousands of dollars), and take 20 years to recover the investment.  Most people buying those aren't in it for the actual savings as much as they are for the reduction of environmental impact.  (And it's just plain cool!)

The self-built ones will vary wildly in their ability to recover the costs.  The factors include things as diverse as the 'windiness' of your area, and how efficient of a design you use.

Probably the single biggest impact to being able to recover the cost is by keeping the cost as low as possible up front.

You can find plans and a parts list, along with strategies of how to keep the initial building costs down, from http://www.squidoo.com/home-made-wind-po...

You can also find really cheap parts at http://for-sale-on-sale.com/2008/08/wind...

    Hope that helps!

  2. I don't exactly know how to build one, I guess I should seeing as my house is surrounding by them, but actaually they do pay for their selves and all the maintenance that is done to them is done by the company that built them and you don't have to pay them to do the maintenance because they are allready getting their share of things. And depending on the elctricity that you produce, yes, you can sale it back to either the company or where ever you want it to go. It's a good thing to get involved in. It takes about 2 years for them to get everything situated and to start getting your payments but you get paid 11,567 per turbine per year...So, if you have 15 or 20 of them then you just do the math...There is not any out of pocket expense from you to do this except for the land that they use. It's a great thing to do.

    Hope I helped!

  3. it depend on smalls factors which are price, cost of maintenance, power output vs demand, and must importantly a good continues supply of wind.

start from price if the is to high any gain will be lose.

next if maintenance cost to high then you lose money,

next output vs demand it simply if demand higher then output you lose.

next wind easy no wind all time no power
