I've been watching my friend's Iguana for about a week now. He's doing well, but I have a few more questions about his care. What vegetables do I feed him? How often should I be feeding the Iguana food and the vegetables? I haven't taken him out of his enclosure yet...should I? How warm do I need to keep the enclosure? It is about 6 feet long and 3 feet high. We are keeping him in one of our spare bedrooms right now.

  1. Staple greens for an iguana include Collard Greens, Mustard Greens, Acorn Squash, Alfalfa and many others.  A great chart for food is here: http://www.greenigsociety.org/foodchart....

Iguanas should be fed a good mix every day.

You should only remove the iguana from the enclosure if you are comfortable handling him, or if there is a need to.  Else, you can let him be if you wish.

Iguanas need a basking spot between 80-90 degrees, but also need to be able to get out of the heat if he wants.  Nowhere in the enclosure should be any cooler than 70.  Also if your friend does not have a bulb that is producing UVB rays, you should get one as iguanas need UVB rays in order to properly process calcium.

    Good luck!

  2. You should definetly google bout Iguanas. They are very finiky about there diet. You should get some calcium powder to sprinkle on there vegs. Not too much kale too cause Kale has alot of iodine in it. If you can move the cage out into the living room area they like action. Feed once a day and hold them once a day at least half an hour. Good Luck
