Question:

How to Clean a Birdcage After a Bird Dies?

One of my chickens died of a heart attack. He died in the chicken coop, and I'm afraid that he might have left bacteria behind. I don't want anything to happen to my other babies, so how do I go about cleaning it? The chicken coop is large and has an outdoor pen, but my chickens spend the day out of the coop.

  1. How do you know the cause of death was a heart attack?  If you have a sprayer, you can use Chlorine bleach to spray around the immediate area of death.

  2. JUst get some disinfectant spray and put it everywhere you can think of. If you haven't already disposed of the bird, you can get a necropsy and find out what killed it so that you can immunise/fix the others.

  3. easy...u start by taking the dead bird out

  4. Hi, dont listen to any of the mean sarcastic answers. Sorry bout your chook. First, take out the other chooks if you can. Then take everything out of the coop and make a mixture of bleach, dishwashing liquid and vinegar, maybe 10% water. Then wipe down all the things in the coop and the coop, let it soak in for half an hour or so, then make sure you hose all the soap down properly. Then put all the things back in once it is dry and ill give you a tip, Try rearanging the coop and items in it every 6 months. It gives you change and your chooks like it. You'll also discover those hidden eggs behind the nesting boxes.

Hope i helped and good luck!!!
