Are there any templates out there for creating your own markeing materials? We are a non-profit and don't have the funds yet, but would like to create an information packet about our org. How do people do it themselves without hiring a designer?

  1. I worked for the State of Arkansas Tobacco Prevention campaign for many years doing the events and promotions.  I had to help plenty of our coalitions get funding and promotional materials quite frequently.  In fact, I was working under Mike Huckabee and his Healthy Arkansas campaign for a few years as well.  The best way to get your name out there is through grants.  Fundraising is your best bet in order to get money enough for advertising.  You may also want to contact your local media because they always have time and space set aside for non-profit organizations (as long as they are a good cause and viable---no "SAVE the kidney bean" campaigns or anything like that).  If you want to create your own materials, MS Publisher is an extremely user-friendly program to make brochures and business cards.  It will look like it's from MS publisher (the templates will give away your source) but it should suffice until you get your point across to sponsors and grant committees...then you can worry about hiring a full time graphic designer and print company.  If you have any more questions, please email me at bcweb70@Yahoo.com.  I'd be glad to give my 2 cents to help a non-profit...I loved working in non-profit and miss it.  So, I'm definitely able to give a few ideas.

  2. There are a lot of great templates in Microsoft Publisher. I use it whenever I want to make a thank you card, business envelope, or business card.
