  1. otitis medida (swimmer's ear) tends to take as long as a week or two to go away after proper medication has been subscribed. the swelling might go down after a week, but everything else takes a while. he probably has muffled hearing right (doesn't go away until like one to two weeks)? did the doctor prescribe medicine containing neomycin and polymyxin b sulfates? that should be the right one. also, in conjunction with the latter, homeopathic drops can be used like similasan to reduce the earache pain. the doctor might also subscribe strong painkillers if the pain is too much. but don't expect it to clear out soon, although the pain should be gone now. if not now, then very soon. just follow the directions on the medicine container and he should be fine.
